Pure means being uncontaminated, and not mixed with other
substances, not becoming dirty. Israel under Moses were taught
to live in a way which made them clean and healthy by regular
washing and separation from things that were dirty or impure.
Although they were good, the Mosaic Laws relating to purity,
health and cleanliness are not binding upon Christians, but
we are required to be morally and spiritually clean, which
is more important. We are to 'wash' our minds with the word
of God; to separate ourselves from influences which would
distract us from our service to God.
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God."
(Matthew 5:8).
