The Deliverance of Israel from the Angel of Death.
1. The first Passover
This 'Passover' happened when Pharoah refused to let Israel
leave Egypt. As an incentive and a punishment when Pharoah
refused, God ordered the death of all the firstborn Egyptian
children. Israel was to be saved from the slaughter by identifying
their houses with the blood of a slain lamb smeared on their
door posts and the angel of death 'passed over' their homes
(see Exodus ch.12).
