PERFECT, PERFECTION
P

In the Bible several Hebrew and Greek words are translated 'perfect' and 'perfection', and the usual meaning is to be complete, finished, particularly in the moral sense.

God alone is perfect (see Deuteronomy 32:4; Job 36:22-33; 37:16). God's 'way', the way that He wants man to follow, is also perfect (see 2 Samuel 22:31; Psalm 119:96), but man cannot attain to perfection without God's help (see 2 Samuel 22:32-33, Psalm 18:32). We are made perfect by the things God teaches us in His word, and the things which He gives us to experience (see 2 Corinthians 12:9); as also was Jesus, whom we are told was made "perfect through suffering." (Hebrews 2:10; and see Hebrews 5:8-9).

Perfection is now with God, but Jesus will bring perfection when he returns to the earth, and man will be made perfect (see Proverbs 4:18; 1 Corinthians 13:10). We should always try to understand God's perfection, and to apply it to our lives.

"No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete [KJV: "perfected"] in us." (1 John 4:12).
