Between God and Man-the Man Christ Jesus.
The apostle Paul (1 Timothy 2:5) refers to the Lord Jesus
Christ as "the mediator between God and man". Jesus
is referred to in Hebrews 8:6-8 as the mediator of a new and
better covenant than the Mosaic Law, a covenant which promised
better things.
A mediator needs to be independent and responsible, and to
have understanding and sympathy with those seeking reconciliation,
and this is fully evident in the life and character of the
Lord Jesus Christ: "For we do not have a high priest
[Jesus Christ] who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses,
but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as
we are-yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne
of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and
find grace to help us in our time of need." (Hebrews
4:15-16).
