(1) the Sky.
The first chapter of Genesis tells how God created the world.
God made 'heaven' (KJV) or 'sky' (NIV) by separating the waters
on the earth from the waters above the earth. God made the
water vapour to be drawn off the sea to form the clouds and
the atmosphere.
"And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which
were under the firmament from the waters which were above
the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament
heaven." (Genesis 1:7-8, KJV).
