Someone who is Not an Israelite.
'Heathen' is an old English word for 'nations' (other than
Israel). It is found throughout the KJV, but in the NIV and
other modern versions it is changed consistently to 'nations'
(The same change has been made where the older versions have
'gentile' q.v.).
"Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain
thing?" (Psalm 2:1, KJV). "Why do the nations conspire
and the peoples plot in vain?" (Psalm 2:1, NIV).
(See also GENTILES; NATIONS).
