Two further examples in the New Testament where most translators
have confused human representatives of God with immortal angels,
are found in these parallel passages:
"But there were also false prophets among the people
bringing
swift destruction on themselves
if God did not spare
angels [here, the responsible rulers of Israel] when they
sinned, but sent them to hell [the grave], putting them into
gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment
." (2 Peter
2:1-4).
"
I want to remind you that the Lord delivered his
people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not
believe. And the angels who did not keep their positions of
authority [the responsible rulers of Israel] but abandoned
their own home [position, status]-these has he kept in darkness,
bound with everlasting chains [in the grave] for judgment
on the great Day." (Jude :5-6).
A sinning immortal angel would be an impossibility. Another
example is 1 Corinthians 11:10, where female worshippers are
required to have "a sign of authority" [KJV: "power"]
on their heads "because of the angels" probably
meaning a head covering to indicate their married status,
in the presence of the church elders.
