The
First Man.
The man God created from the dust of the earth in His own
image. "Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image,
in our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea
and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the
earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.'
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he
created him; male and female he created them." (Genesis
1:26-27).
The Hebrew word 'Adam' means 'man' and the Hebrew adamah means
'the ground'.
"
the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the
ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life,
and the man became a living being." (Genesis 2:7).
Adam and his wife Eve became the parents of the whole human
race. "Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become
the mother of all the living
. Adam lay with his wife
Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said,
'With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man.'"
(Genesis 3:20; 4:1).
