'Demon possessed', 'possessed', or 'vexed with a devil' (KJV)
are expressions found in the Gospels. From the context it
is clear that 'devil' or 'demon' possession refers to being
ill, diseased, mentally or otherwise afflicted, or being blind,
deaf, dumb or crippled (see Matthew 4:24; 8:16,28,33; 9:32;
12:22; 15:22; Mark 1:32; 5:15-18; Luke 8:36; John 10:21).
"Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was
blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both
talk and see." (Matthew 12:22).
