Joy is happiness. To be joyful and rejoice is to show that
happiness, and share it with others.
Our joy now is the prospect of life in God's kingdom. When
the birth of Jesus was announced by the angel to the shepherds,
he said: "I bring you good news of great joy that will
be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior
has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2:10-11).
"
There is rejoicing in the presence of the angels
of God over one sinner who repents." (Luke 15:10).
"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter
of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross,
scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the
throne of God." (Hebrews 12:2).
