The Ground where Dead are Buried.
"This is the fate of those who trust in themselves, and
of their followers, who approve their sayings. Like sheep
they are destined for the grave, and death will feed on them
their
forms will decay in the grave
. But God will redeem my
life from the grave; He will surely take me to Himself."
(Psalm 49:13-15).
"Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when
all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out-those
who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done
evil will rise to be condemned." (John 5:28-29).
In Bible times some would have a tomb in the rock, perhaps
a converted small cave.
"Early on the first day of the week
Mary Magdalene
went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from
the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other
disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, "They have taken
the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have
put him!" So Peter and the other disciple started for
the tomb
. Then Simon Peter
arrived and went into
the tomb." (John 20:1-6).
